Demo Days - First House Update

8:40:00 PM

Welcome to our first update! So much has happened in the space in just the past week! We found out that demo starts out fun but eventually gets exhausting. Martin has spent a good amount of time in the attic this week for electrical work and rerouting a plumbing vent. I feel like most of our communication lately has happened while yelling at each other through the ceiling. That's not good for any relationship! I've also had a few power tools dropped on me through holes in the ceiling. But he did clean up the 3 dead squirrels that were hanging out up there so I think we're even!

As you can remember, there was a wall separating the living room from the kitchen and dining room and also a wall between the dining room and kitchen...

Say goodbye! We tore out all the walls to create one big open space!

I spent a good three days last weekend, with the help of my mother-in-law, removing the wallpaper backing from the dining room and living room. NEVER AGAIN. I'm not even a fan of cute wallpaper anymore.

All the flooring is now tore up on the main floor. There was at least two layers of flooring in every room, but the kitchen takes the prize with a total of six layers of flooring!

Not too much has happened in this bathroom as we quickly figured out that much of the drywall will need replaced!

The kitchen is looking cleaner and has some new outlets roughed in for above the counter. Martin has started rerouting the sink plumbing to go under the window, relocated a few light switches, and fixed some switching messes.

My favorite thing so far are these recessed LED lights that we installed in the hallway. We have nine more to install throughout the space so these were our practice. They started out rough but I think we finally outsmarted the light so we are ready to knock out the rest.

Until next time!
